A cultural belief system can be seen as a congruent, logically connected and integrated system. Therefore, values should not be contradictory within that belief system. The relative integration and consistency of stated beliefs will be reliable for members within a cultural or subcultural group. This is the concept of synchronic reliability – that observations of cultural phenomena will remain similar at a given point in time.
