Breakdown of Lupe Fiasco and Royce Da 5’9″ Conflict

Success breeds doubt.

That’s what I feel when I break this flare up down. Two similarly underrated and highly skilled wordsmiths used their verbal art skills, breath control, work ethic to conquer golliath industries of entertainment, marketing and podcast journalism.

They became too friendly and too familiar and now a throwaway comment about a person’s manhood unleashed posturing and diss tracks, classic as they may be. I am still making sense of the lyrical gems on these pieces so I will try to put this timeline together with youtube/other links.

This is their podcast…

This is the conversation that sparked the dissing…

Lupe basically states he is open to battling anybody (period). Basically, saying that even his partner Royce is not off limits. Royce goes after Lupe’s masculinity by calling him a bitch. Lupe uses his verbal combat skills as follows…

Royce waited and dropped this cold battle rap written called Lambda. He calls out Lupe for starting conflicts and then acting like he’s persecuted. He talks about racial stances that Lupe has taken on podcast.

Lupe Fiasco drops an equally impressive response, the final from each artists thus far in this tit-for-tat.

Other artists including Mickey Factz join in.

Last night, Royce’s little brother also responds…
