Melo Miles – Freddie Ventura’s Bandana (Mixed Tape)
This was written and recorded a year ago. It’s about a capo named Freddie Ventura recorded on Madlib and Fred Gibbs masterpiece Bandana. In this piece I deal with social issues but also get into some self-therapy talking about my childhood and communities I lived in and worked with. However, it is mainly a narrative about a gang boss that was a nobody until he was initiated into his hood, got his first bandana and future stripes. I use years of research I’ve done on gangs and some of the narratives from interviews on web.
